What People Neglect When Seeking Forgiveness

The messengers agreed on four matters to which they called their people.
This is found in several surahs of the Quran that you know.
It is for emphasis and as a reminder.
They called to worship Allah ﷻ alone and not associate partners with Him.
They called for following the messenger who was sent.
Then to fear Allah ﷻ in every deed, and to persist in seeking forgiveness.
These four appear at the start of Surah Hud, Ash-Shu'ara, and Al-A'raf.
They also appear in other surahs, including Surah Noah (AS).

“A Book whose verses are perfected, then detailed by One All-Wise, All-Aware.”
“And seek your Lord's forgiveness.” These are the verses.
“Worship none but Allah ﷻ.”
“I am to you from Him a warner and bearer of glad tidings.”
Tawhid, obeying the Messenger, fearing Allah ﷻ, and seeking forgiveness.
The messengers all agreed on these four.
We mention Allah ﷻ, His Messenger, and piety.
We sometimes forget istighfar.
But istighfar is most important. It must be stressed; people are heedless.
They seek forgiveness, seek forgiveness, but it must be frequent.
Make abundant istighfar your habit. Allah relieves all trouble and blesses.
Teach people to seek forgiveness.
The Prophet ﷺ often sought forgiveness and taught the Companions (RA) the same.
