Ruling on ATM Withdrawal from Another Bank

And this questioner asks about withdrawing money from the ATM.

From another bank.

In fact, this transaction is doubtful.

That is because if a person uses a regular card to withdraw.

from an ATM of a bank other than his own bank.

They charge a fee for it.

But what seems correct, Allah ﷻ knows best.

Though doubtful, it is permissible.

Because this is first of all a fee for using the machine.

Because every ATM belongs to a bank.

This machine has value and it has upkeep costs.

So if a person uses this ATM belonging to that bank, not his own bank.

Then a fee is charged for using this ATM of that bank.

Permissible; Allah ﷻ knows best.

This is permissible, and Allah knows best. It is a different issue from withdrawal.

This is the fee for using this.

ATM of another bank.

And another point is that a person.

In this case, I don't know.

I'm speaking about what happens in Saudi Arabia. He doesn't pay.

This extra charge or this amount. Rather, his bank pays this amount.

Meaning, here in Saudi Arabia, it isn't deducted from his account.

But the bank you deal with bears this extra charge.

For example, here it may be two or three riyals.

The bank you use pays it as a fee to the other bank, and vice versa.

In this case, the beneficiary is not the one who paid.

Rather, it is his own bank.

And this is a separate issue. This is a separate issue.

So it seems to me, Allah ﷻ knows best: it is permissible.

But I advise against doing it because I have doubts about it.

So a person should be careful.

as much as possible, to withdraw from his own bank's ATM.

Of course, scholars differ on it.

Some scholars prohibit it.

And other scholars permit it.

I have in fact studied it, and it seems to me

Allah ﷻ knows best: the stronger view permits it.

But the matter is doubtful, and avoiding doubt is better.

So it is better for a person to be careful.
