Brother Fahd from Bisha, go ahead, you're on the line.
Salaam alaikum.
Wa alaikum salaam. I have two questions, Sheikh. May Allah grant you success.
Go on.
First question: I want to buy a property, but I don't have cash.
I went to the bank. They said they would buy it from the owner and sell it to me
over 20 years. Is this permissible, with it still mortgaged to them?
Go on.
Yes. He says he has property.
The first question is whether the bank wants to buy it for itself.
Then once the bank takes possession of it, it may sell it to you.
After taking possession and owning it, there is nothing wrong with that.
If the bank buys it for you and pays, then takes back more: riba, not allowed.
The bank did not buy it to own it itself.
Rather, it bought it for you and paid on your behalf.
It loaned you the amount and recovers it with extra.
That is forbidden, not allowed. Yes.
