Ruling on Praying Asr at Home Due to Work Exhaustion
Transcript 36 lines
Do we still have brother Abu Muhammad, or has he left?
We have Fahd. Go ahead, brother Fahd from Medina.
Salaam alaikum.
Wa alaikum salaam.
First, please convey my salaams to the Shaykh.
Second, I have two related questions.
First, I get home late from work.
I eat, sleep, and wake up at Asr time.
I feel too lazy to go to the mosque, so I pray at home, exhausted from work.
And my second question is this.
When exactly do you pray it?
On time.
Asr prayer?
At home, yes.
And the second question: what counts as hearing the call?
With city noise, even at 300 meters, I may hear the call only by loudspeaker.
Greet the Shaykh for me. May Allah ﷻ reward you.
Thank you. Allah ﷻ bless you. I'll pass on your greetings.
Shaykh, he comes home late from work, eats, sleeps, prays Asr at home on time.
What is its ruling?
He may not miss Asr in congregation.
He should pray with the congregation, then sleep.
Prayer is surely more binding than work.
Even more than this world and all in it, so he must guard his prayer.
If he gets home from work early, he may eat, sleep, then rise for Asr.
But if time is short, he must not sleep until he has prayed Asr in congregation.
Allah ﷻ says: "Guard the prayers and the middle prayer."
The middle prayer is Asr.
It was singled out after being mentioned among the obligatory prayers.
This emphasizes its importance and the attention it deserves.
So every Muslim must pay attention to the Asr prayer.
And in the hadith: "Whoever misses the Asr prayer, his deeds are nullified."
Imam Malik said missing the Asr prayer means that its time has passed.
So he must make sure to pray Asr.
Whatever it takes.
And it's easy, by Allah ﷻ's leave, if he pays heed to this matter. Yes.
