Some young men delay marriage for no reason. What do you advise?
And what is your advice to parents who inflate dowries and marriage costs?
By Allah, whoever delays marriage without cause should consult a doctor.
What is prescribed, dear ones for a Muslim.
He should hasten to marry. This is ordained by Sharia, not a custom.
Because the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said.
"O young men, whoever among you can afford marriage, let him marry."
"For it better guards chastity and lowers the gaze."
"And if he cannot, let him fast, for it is for him."
a shield.
The Prophet ﷺ addresses the youth.
"O young men, whoever among you has the means to marry."
Whoever has the ability to marry, let him marry.
For it better guards chastity and better lowers the gaze.
“And whoever cannot, let him fast; it is a shield for him.”
Meaning, it weakens desire in him. So the advice is.
The advice for anyone able to marry is to obey the Messenger's command.
ﷺ, and this command is for guidance.
Because the Prophet ﷺ made its benefit accrue to the person.
And goodness is in the Prophet's guidance.
ﷺ.
As for one who is unable.
He must remain obedient and increase his fasting.
As for advice to guardians, it is to make marriage easy.
For in marriage there is protection of honor.
And it is no honor for a woman that her dowry be made costly.
For the Prophet ﷺ did not make his wives' or daughters' dowries high.
"The most blessed women are those with the least expense".
So part of marriage's blessing is that the dowry be affordable.
How?
And today we see that women are increasing.
And that many girls remain in their fathers' homes.
Still unmarried.
And it is blatant injustice and sin.
for a guardian to hold back a vulnerable woman for his own gain.
As if he wants to take her salary for a number of years.
Or he waits for his young nephew to grow up.
To marry him to her. That is not permissible.
And guardianship is care.
It is not domination. And Allah ﷻ will ask.
Everyone entrusted with a flock will answer for his flock.
So let him prepare his answer. Yes.
