What is the ruling on removing body and face hair.

0:03

excluding the eyebrows by laser for women?

0:06

And removing hair that one is commanded to remove.

0:09

For men as well, by laser. Such as underarm and pubic hair?

0:15

First: Is it permissible for a woman.

0:22

To remove facial hair and body hair?

0:30

We say: as for eyebrow hair.

0:36

It is not permissible for a woman to remove it or even thin it.

0:43

Rather, she should leave it as Allah ﷻ created it.

0:49

So long as it does not go beyond the normal form.

0:55

But if it goes beyond the normal form.

0:59

Such as growing so long that it falls into the eye.

1:04

Or becomes disfiguring to the face.

1:07

And this is not natural for women.

1:12

Then a woman may remove what goes beyond the normal form.

1:20

because this is not altering Allah's creation for beauty.

1:26

Rather, it is restoring the form to its original state.

1:32

As for facial hair other than the eyebrows, scholars disagreed.

1:40

Some scholars say the cursed plucking means removing facial hair entirely.

1:52

But the sounder scholarly view is that a woman may remove facial hair.

2:01

This refers to hair growing outside the eyebrows.

2:07

A woman's natural state is that hair does not grow on her face.

2:12

So if it does grow, she may remove it.

2:17

As for the rest of the body hair, she may remove it. One question remains.

2:25

And that is: may she remove this hair before other women?

2:34

The answer is: as for hair in areas a woman may uncover before another woman.

2:45

There is no harm in asking her sister or a female doctor to remove it.

2:54

As for hair that grows in places she may not uncover before other women.

3:03

It is not permissible for her to seek someone to remove this hair.

3:10

Because this is not medical treatment that permits exposing the private area.

3:17

Rather, this is a matter of beautifying the appearance.

3:21

And beautifying the appearance is not medical treatment.

3:26

Therefore, we say it is not allowed for a woman to remove hair.

3:32

that grows on parts she may not expose before other women, using laser.

3:39

Because laser hair removal can only be done with someone else's help.

3:48

I have heard from doctors that so-called home laser is harmful.

3:56

It causes damage and burns.

3:59

Therefore, it may not be used.

4:03

As for hair that grows on areas a woman may uncover before women.

4:11

There is no harm in seeking help.

4:13

By a woman who removes this hair for her by laser in clinics and such.

4:22

As for men, a man may not shave his beard.

4:31

Nor may he trim anything from it. Even if it exceeds a fistful.

4:37

According to the sounder scholarly view.

4:39

Because the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said.

4:43

"Honor the beards, let them grow, and let them hang."

4:50

As for the rest of the hair for which no command to remove it was given.

4:59

It seems to me—and Allah ﷻ knows best—that it is not allowed.

5:02

for a man to remove it to resemble a woman.

5:07

Unless it grows so much that it harms him.

5:10

Then he may trim what harms him.

5:13

May a man remove his armpit hair with laser?

5:20

Yes, if it is established that it does not harm him.

5:24

As for pubic hair, it is not permissible to remove it with laser.

5:28

For the reason we mentioned concerning women. Allah ﷻ knows best.
