What is the remedy for weak resolve in seeking knowledge and doing good deeds?
No doubt, a person may be lazy and may feel sluggish.
But he must be patient in seeking knowledge and endure hardship.
Knowledge is not gained through ease.
Knowledge is gained with hardship and patience, so let him endure.
He should have determination and desire for seeking knowledge.
He should endure the hardship of study and the long time it takes.
Yes. It is said that a man was seeking knowledge.
A question puzzled him, and he could not solve it.
Despite every effort he made, he wanted to give in to despair.
While he was lying on his back.
Suddenly, he saw an ant carrying something up the wall.
Whenever it neared the top, it fell.
Then it returned a second time, carrying it.
It returned a third time. On the final attempt, it climbed up.
Glory be to Allah ﷻ! This ant never despaired.
It endured hardships until it reached its goal.
I am not as patient as it is.
So he persevered and prevailed, then he did so again and attained it. Yes.
And the poet says, Seek knowledge, and do not grow weary.
For the scholar's bane is weariness.
Do you not see how a rope, by repetition, has marked solid rock? Yes.
