What is the Muslim's stance toward the fitan sweeping Muslim lands today?

0:11

There is no doubt: one who looks at Muslims today sees rampant fitna.

0:20

Its evil has grown immense, and its harm disastrous.

0:26

It has caused Muslims hardship and fear.

0:33

And the loss of benefits.

0:37

Seeing these fitan increases certainty in the truth of Ahl al-Sunnah wal-Jama'ah.

0:46

It is built on the Book of Allah ﷻ and the Sunnah of Allah's Messenger ﷺ.

0:53

He knows that, due to limited vision, a person may not endure his state.

1:01

And seeks something else, so he loses what he has and gains no good.

1:09

Rather, from that comes immense evil and great harm.

1:17

First: the Muslim's stance toward fitan.

1:25

When a Muslim sees the trials striking the Muslims.

1:29

And the evil that has befallen them he should not gloat over them.

1:34

Nor should he rejoice at what befalls them.

1:39

Rather, the believers are brothers. We should feel our brothers' pain.

1:45

And we should grieve for the harm that befell them.

1:49

And we should pray to Allah ﷻ to lift the affliction from them.

1:55

And unite them upon goodness and guidance.

1:59

And ward off from them the evil of these trials.

2:03

The believer does not rejoice at a calamity that befalls his brother.

2:09

Rather, he asks Allah ﷻ to ward off this affliction from his Muslim brothers.

2:18

The second matter is to take it as a lesson.

2:25

The wise person takes lessons from others.

2:30

So he looks at these trials that befell the Muslims.

2:34

And the harm they caused, and the evil they caused.

2:38

And the good it has taken away, and the fear it has caused.

2:42

And how, when matters break apart, they cannot be put back in order.

2:46

And restoring order becomes hard, whatever people imagine.

2:51

For reality is unlike expectation.

2:56

Some people say, "We want to remove evil, and we can preserve good."

3:02

So they removed what they thought was evil, but the good did not remain.

3:09

Rather, people became like a herd, attacking each other—Allah ﷻ save us.

3:15

We must take heed and thank Allah ﷻ for unity and leadership.

3:24

We do not claim perfection for our rulers, nor for ourselves.

3:33

But unity is better, and having leadership is better.

3:38

So we rejoice in it and ask Allah ﷻ to preserve it.

3:43

And we strive in sincere counsel by sound, approved Sharia means.

3:51

Part of a Muslim's stance in fitnah is to remember Allah ﷻ.

4:00

and recite the Quran often. By it, Allah ﷻ wards fitnah from hearts.

4:09

Part of a Muslim's stance in fitnah is to keep to senior scholars.

4:15

and beware innovators and people of whims.

4:20

And people with sweet tongues but little knowledge.

4:27

Rather, keep to scholars known for knowledge.

4:31

From them you hear only: Allah said; His Messenger ﷺ said.

4:36

The salaf understood it thus. The Companions did too, and lived by it.

4:44

Part of a Muslim's stance in fitnah is to beware haste and be deliberate.

4:53

For haste at any time is loved by Satan.

4:57

But in times of fitnah, it is a greater evil.

5:02

So in times of fitnah, a Muslim should keep away from haste.

5:08

And be deliberate.

5:12

In any case, I have a full lecture called Fiqh of Fitan.

5:22

It is available online.

5:27

It has also now been printed and is available in print.

5:31

And one can benefit from it, if Allah ﷻ wills.

5:35

I ask Allah ﷻ by His beautiful Names and lofty attributes.

5:38

that He lift the affliction from the Muslims and grant them security.

5:42

and unite them upon goodness, and preserve Muslim lands from fitnah.

5:48

and preserve the Muslims' community and their imam in every land.

5:54

and unite them upon guidance and piety.

5:57

and set everyone's affairs aright. And Allah knows best.
