He (RH) said:

0:01

The twenty-sixth Hadith:

0:02

On the authority of Abu Hurayrah (RA),

0:04

that he said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:

0:07

"Every joint of a person must perform a charity

0:10

every day the sun rises.

0:14

To judge justly between two people is a charity,

0:16

to help a man with his mount, lifting him onto it,

0:19

or hoisting up his belongings onto it, is a charity;

0:21

a good word is a charity;

0:24

and every step you take towards prayer is a charity;

0:27

and removing harmful things from the road is a charity."

0:29

Narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim.

0:31

Yes, here in the saying of the Prophet ﷺ:

0:34

"Every joint of a person..." "Every joint" means a bone.

0:36

There is a difference of opinion as to which bone is meant,

0:38

but the human body contains many bones.

0:42

His saying: "...of a person must perform a charity."

0:45

His saying "upon him"—we went over a rule a short while ago,

0:48

which is that "upon" denotes obligation, according to his view.

0:51

Accordingly, this hadith indicates obligation,

0:55

and this is what some scholars have stated.

0:57

Therefore, we say that a believer performs two types of charity:

1:04

an obligatory charity that must be performed every day and night,

1:08

which is performing the obligatory duties that Allah ﷻ has enjoined upon him,

1:13

and refraining from what Allah ﷻ has forbidden. This is obligatory,

1:17

and it is the obligatory charity.

1:19

Whatever is beyond that is considered recommended charity.

1:23

Therefore, the statement of the Prophet ﷺ:

1:26

"Every day the sun rises, doing justice between two people is a charity,"

1:29

is by way of example, not limitation.

1:32

Since the obligatory charity means performing the obligations, and the obligation of charity is upon every joint of a human being.

1:40

It was said that it is a way of praising Allah ﷻ

1:44

and thanking Him for His blessing of health and well-being, so it is a form of gratitude.

1:48

“Work, O family of David, in gratitude.” So there must be gratitude for the blessing of Allah ﷻ.

1:53

The first opinion is the one held by most of the Salaf.

1:57

And it was said that this is to ward off affliction and calamity.

2:03

So in order for a person to ward off affliction from his body parts, he gives charity on behalf of every joint of his body,

2:10

so that it becomes a means of warding off affliction from them,

2:13

as stated in the saying of the Prophet ﷺ: “Every child is pledged to his 'aqiqah, which is sacrificed on his behalf on the seventh day.”

2:20

Some scholars said: “Pledged” means the safety of the newborn. So whoever has a child born to him...

2:26

so, as a good omen for his safety and to ward off affliction from him,

2:30

this 'aqiqah is slaughtered for him on his seventh day,

2:34

or the fourteenth, or the twenty-first day from his birth.

2:38

Here are some examples of charities — and they are very numerous,

2:40

and some scholars have compiled the types of these charities in a separate volume. Yes.
